This meeting was held in Stapleford Park, Melton Mowbray. There was a good turn out of thoracic surgeons and NET experts. The meeting took place in the afternoon and consisted of 2 parts. The first part covered the overall clinical picture, histopathological classification, radiology and surgery. The second part consisted of interactive case based discussions highlighting the controversial areas of patient management.
The meeting was well received and considered very useful in highlighting areas for developing collaborations in patient management and research. It was agreed that action should be taken to foster closer ties between thoracic and NET teams. The organisers of the meeting [Tahir Shah, Maninder Kalkat and Sridhar Rathinam] are planning to set up a working party in order to deliver on the momentum generated and to deliver improvement in services for bronchial carcinoids.
